Pod shape looks true. They are kinda pale, but I wouldn't worry.

Well worth I can't be sure, but the leaves on that pic don't look like the leaves on my ghost pepper. Still pepper leaves but mine are rounder with a little "crinkle". Could be a phenotype rather than a genotype though.

I guess we will both find out in due time.

I never really noticed a different leaf on my first few BJs - I still had so much to learn about peppers - but the last few have had that longer, less crinkly leaf that these display. IIRC I got my seeds from fusion_power.

Being over ran with basil might have to make pesto as much as I hate to.
Decided to pickle the okra.
Cucumbers starting to hit hard and found more melons growing.

Worth, do you mind sharing your pickling okra recipe ?

I have tones of basil and have already made some pesto.
I am tired of picking/eating/giving away cucumbers. I let them expire. I have some huge ones for seed production.
My melons are almost full size and the Sugar Babies are already bigger than I had imagined.
Okras are pumping. Corns expired, beans growing at the shade of corm bushes. No very good.

1:1 ratio of white 5% vinegar to water and salt to taste spice to taste and hot peppers dill and garlic.
I get the vinegar salt and water boiling hot and pour into jars and put the lid on to seal.
I will not process them in a hot water bath for ten minutes like it says.
It would cook the okra, my choice and I refrigerate them anyway.

Somewhere around here there is a lost cucumber.
I was talking on the phone and I dont have any idea where I put it and it is driving me nuts.

Thanks for the recipe and the method, Wort.

1:1 (50/50) ration of vinegar/water is safe as its pH is way low ( under 3 ) to preserve anything. And when you pour it boiling , it will kill any existing bacteria. I have done this with hot peppers for years. I have a couple of small jars that are 3 to 8 years old. But never done it with okra.
Ok, I am all set to pickle some okra.

PS: Hope you found the lost cucumber.

I hope it isn't too acidic for you and no, no sign of the cucumber.

Catties don't eat no rabbit food. So says Minnie. Heck, they barely condescend to eat special gourmet cat foods.

No, I'm convinced it was rogue beavers.

I mean, just look at the teeth!

Beg to differ - Lula, the Resident Rotten Ruler Of All, adores Tomato sauce and spaghetti, and the sauce more than the noodles. Rob would give in to her fussing as a young one and feed her some of whatever he was eating, and she would swat at his cheek or chin ( no claws but the girl has a mean left hook) if he did not share tomato sauce quickly enough to suit her!

I am smarter about the tomato sauce thing than my Dearly Departed One ( a bit of humour) and do not get swatted by the Dread Paw of Destruction, because I KNOW to just give her some right away before I sit down to eat.

Oh, I've had catties that wanted whatever you were eating, but it was like a non-compulsory religious tithe - symbolic. But a whole cucumber?

I'm sticking with the beavers.

No, Lula doesn't want much of nothing we, or now I, eat other than tomato sauced items and shrimp, maybe some fish to pick at IF I shred it nicely. Oh yes, the Salt "n' Pepper shrimp from the Chinese place, but only the heads.

Yes, a cucumber was probably just hidden for amusement.

The case of the missing cucumber has been solved.
It was in the freezer.
The tubs had a nice 6 inch water table in them last night.
Today after work they had been sucked dry.
