Thank you Worth. I always wondered just what a Cornish Game Hen was.

Thanks for teaching me something today.

And... once again a superb meal was prepared. Great job.

I buy huge bags of chicken thighs and wash and separate them and freeze two to a bag.
All of my meat is bought on sale and only on sale.
Everything I make is made as fresh as I can without processing.
Its a lot of work but I love every minute of it.

Worth, we buy our meats and groceries the same way. Family size and then divide and freeze. The best thing we ever did for our grocery budget was to plant a garden. We get to eat much better and gardening is the replacement therapy I use instead of taking heavy doses of prescription medicines.

Cornish hens are a hybrid. We bought the larger sized ones. If I think about where meat comes from, I have a very difficult time eating it. I still think of Veal as tortured baby cow. I have never eaten veal, and most likely won't.

From what I read, "Cornish Hen" is indeed just an immature chicken. The breed-specific one is a "Rock Cornish Hen."

When I was a kid, my dad was a truck driver who had a load of them. He helped the dock unload the truck, because they needed the help, and they paid him with a huge box of the cornish hens. We had a deep-freeze about half full of them. It was something totally new to my family.

Jan agrees we have to get some of those dishes. We're trying Cornish Hens for our first time tonight.

I hope you like them. Baked Cornish hen was one of my father's favorites. I like them too, we eat them a couple times a year.

It is in the refrigerator cooling off and will be my snack tonight.

Well that didn't last long I ate the whole bowl.
I fully planned on eating it tonight with some tamales.
As for flavor I am going to give it a full 10.
Rarely do I ever eat a whole bowl of the stuff but I couldn't stop.
I even tipped the bowl up and drank the juice.

My grandma has always been a kidder. One time my husband at the time made some statement and said if he was wrong he would eat crow. I don't even remember what it was, but he turned out to be wrong. So my grandma, who has always been craft-challenged, actually cooked him a cornish hen. She turned it upside down and made it a little black head out of a styro foam ball with eyes and a little beak and everything. She even made him little feet that stuck up in the air out of toothpicks. She presented it to him so he could "eat crow" and he was not amused! It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

Worth, looks like you have a good batch of peppers for fermented hot sauce, some gazpacho and a fresh pico de gallo.
