FYI: Zucchero has been renamed "Fire" for release this year. Will be available from at least one seed company.
Seems not everyone is as excited about Italian names as I am. Plus there is already a Zucchero on the market. |

Love looking at the pcis of the harvest! Looking so yummy!
Glad to hear that Titan Red proved to be worthy, hmm, I should check with Tatiana if she wants a bit of those seeds to compare with her Titan. Your description fits package description well. Any review on Ballada? Just curious. |

Ballada wasn't bad. The plant looked a lot like Titan Red. But mine took a long time to ripen, 2-3 weeks longer than the Titan Red, which I would call more of a mid-season variety than an early one. But it makes up for it with an excellent yield.

How about their taste? Which once you like the most? That Urfa looks interesting. Does it have good aroma?

I've had the Mareka Fana with my fried eggs, and I liked it. It is a frying pepper.
The Urfa is meant to be dried, and I don't have a dehydrator. I have been sitting mine on the back of the kitchen stove to let them dry out. And frankly, I'm a little scared of the ghost pepper. I really just want the seed out of it. |

Great thread Cole, a few questions if I may.
If you had to list your overall top 10 so far this year what would they be? Was Orange Jazz really productive? How was the taste? Fred's cherries have been very productive for me and I love the taste. What has been your customers favorite variety/best seller this year? |

All of Fred's varieties are very productive. He does a good job of breeding heirloom flavor into a plant that produces well enough for a market gardener. None of his plants do the 'make 3 giant tomatoes and quit for the year' thing that I experience with so many heirlooms.
Spike is a challenging tomato to grow. I am getting better at learning to pick it before it becomes fully ripe. When Spike is its most beautiful; it's too soft to sell at market. To be fair, his web site description of Spike discloses this trait. As soon as all my seeds are dry, I am going to lay out all the packets and post my favorites of each type. It's like an award show....coming soon, live from Southern Illinois, it's the Robbie Awards! Hosted by me! With special guest, me! |
