Just received a weather alert -- possibility of severe thunderstorms between 12 and 7 p.m. Some with hail and damaging straight line wind. Time to go out and batten down the hatches!

Yeah, take care FD, I know your T storms can be severe! As I've seen while travelling on the mainland.
We are having thundershowers today as well, and some things have been flattened by the heavy rain - my pink dianthus, and my bed of garlic rounds went nearly to the ground. But this is trivial, they'll bounce back from a bit of heavy rain. I've never seen hail with a T'storm here. The warm rain is really welcome since it has continued to be on the dry side. I darted out between showers and planted beets and bush beans and some shelling peas. May come to nothing but what the heck. We don't often get enough warm weather for beans, but we might this year. So far I'm just getting a gentle rumble of thunder here, which is nice. |

Weather
Spent a good hour on the most important task -- lashing the new tomato plant growth to the stakes, then I put away anything that could become a missile. Had enough time to sit on the patio and cool off before the sky turned black and the wind picked up.
In the end the worst of it was the heavy rain that came down in sheets. Now it's sunny, hot and steamy, and the mosquitoes are out in force. |

We are getting some rain, with sound effects, but not a lot of wind, so it is good. I watered yesterday, but more rain is almost always a good thing here. It will take many years to replace the ground water here after such a long bad drought. |

78 degrees and 79% humidity out there right now. Just came in from checking the garden and it seems I don't need to water today. Don't know what's up with that but everything except a couple of the flower and herb containers are plenty moist out there. The tomatoes and the watermelon. I'll watch it and go out to water if I think it's getting dry today.

Currently we are 79f and 79 humidity. Got the few container tomato plants watered and all the blushing tomatoes Picked and am now relaxing with my coffee on the shaded patio. A great way to start the day.

We got over over 3" of rain last night with a couple episodes of hail. The hail wasn't terribly large, but the first time it hailed for about 10 minutes and second time much shorter. A look out the window this AM most things look fine, some leaves and small peppers were tore from the plants on the deck, but overall OK. I'll look more later today.

Then Texas is coming to the Delmarva Peninsula.
We are supposed to hit 100 index today through Thursday. UGH I'm going with a Texas/Florida tomato production schedule next year. These heat index days ruin too many months of work to try to coax a crop through July and August. |
