I'll be comparing a lot of tomatoes this year (If the weather cooperates) I'm curious to compare Big Beef to Big Boy. I haven't grown many hybrids.

If the expensive Marmande I bought isn't good, then I'm giving up on red hybrids.

This year's contestants to be my new hanging basket variety:
Whipper-Snapper
Anmore Dewdrop
Anmore Treasures
Pendulina Red
Cherry Falls
Ditmarsher

Yes I have Steve and I was the original source for both as indicated below in the links

http://t.tatianastomatobase.com:88/wiki/Druzba

http://t.tatianastomatobase.com:88/w..._Red_Bulgarian

Two completely different reds. Druzba is much smaller than Milka's Red Bulgarian which can get up to a couple of pounds.

I like both very much but given the choice would always grow Milka's Red Bulgarian for better taste and outstanding production for such a large fruited variety.

If I don't like any of those, I'm going back to Orange Blossom F1, provided Johnny's doesn't discontinue it. I didn't see it in my last paper catalog, but they still had it on the web site when I looked.

edit: as late entries into this competition, let's add Sakharnyi Zheltyi and Tobolsk
I have it as Babuskin Potseluj and two of my seed producers were supposed to be growing last summer. The one in IL lost all 20 or so varieties I s ent to him and the other one was Shawn in VT, who is taking over the hard part of my seed offer and trying to read here I think it says he needs more seeds for this summer. He didn't send his seeds back to me b;c it's me who has to somehow get my seed stash to him b'c he'll be doing the seed packing while I'll still be the one to find new varieties that are new to most or all and also put up the germination and Fall feedback reports.

We're still working things out.

I spent time yesterday and today just logging in, if you will, the newest ones sent to me that are ready to be offered and then ones sent to me that have to go out to my seed producers. And it's very clear that I'll need more seed producers as well b'c of so many new varieties.

I'll count them up and then ask for volunteers in the 2 cents Forum.

If I'm late getting my seed offer up, I'm late and I've quit worrying about it so much since it only makes me feel more guilty which stresses me.

It's a different situation entirely getting seeds out to seed producers in time to be grown out this summer.

Thanks for responding, Carolyn. I wonder how they compare in disease tolerance, or would you say that Druzba is more intensely flavored? I would certainly bow to a woman's prerogative, but I wonder if your answer to one of these questions would explain why you wrote the following last August:

"So of the above I first introduced by SSE listing them:

Bulgarian #7
Druzba
Large Pink Bulgarian
Milka's Red Bulgarian

and my own favoite is, ta da:

http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Druzba "

The thread was "what is your most intensely-flavored tomato".

I can only compare foliage diseases and I saw no difference between the two.

Yes, Druzba is more intensely flavored, but I still prefer , given the choice, Milka's Red Bulgarian, not as intensely flavored, but a taste that I like very much. Besides, MRB has much larger fruits, which I also prefer, and for such a large fruited variety the yield is outstanding.

So there you go, a woman's perogative as you put it.

Milka's Red B about to start setting fruit for me. Your high praise is music to my ears.

I am growing Druzba this year as per Carolyn's and others' praises. I also have seeds for Bulgarian Triumph. I have already exceeded my maximum grow list but I might have to add one more lololol

Default How Is Milka's Red Bulgarian with heat

I live in Florida and Druzba stands heat and still produces. I like the idea of Milka's Red Bulgarian but wonder if it would stand the hot climate here.

Thank you for clearing that up, Carolyn. I've also noted that Tatiana gives Druzba a "very good" for taste, and Milka's Red Bulgarianan an "excellent". I have seeds for both, but room for only one. I think I'm going to stick with my original plan this year, which is Druzba. I like the description in your book, describing it as "exquisitely balanced". I have the impression that MRB is sweeter. As jillian says (post 98), there's a lot of praise for Druzba. I'll have to try MRB next year.

I like Tasmanian Chocolate a lot. One can really taste the Paul Robeson parentage in it.

Default Maria Amazilitei's Giant Red VS WES

Anyone have experience with Maria Amazilitei's Giant Red vs. WES?

Which do you choose if you only have room for one?

Wholeheartedly agree with Cole_R.

Dwarf Wild Fred is setting fruit for me as I type this, so I should be able to comment better on DWF soon
