Didn't really have a chance to evaluate them this winter. But they are in my summer field, and I am going to be taking a very close look at them.

Default Cherokee Cross

Last summer, I realized that a Cherokee Black seed I planted was from a tomato that had crossed with another variety--it wasn't black, but orange with green shoulders, and the plant was an animal rather than having the nice compact growth habit of the Black. After a trip to the farmers market to question the farmer I had bought the Cherokee Black from, I concluded that papa was a Marvel Stripe. Aside from this hybrid being a very tasty tomato, it was the only plant in the garden that was setting any fruit in our weeks and weeks of 99-degree weather. So, this year, I am growing out the F2 seed from the Cherokee Cross. Interestingly, one of the plants has potato leaves...where did that come from? So, we'll see what transpires.
