he might be a coachwip. I was thinking he was a red bellied water snake but I'm not exactly sure.

You are a serious tomato grower. Your plants and garden look like what I have always dreamed of. |

Yep here it is the eastern coach whip looks just like yours. If you guys didn't know it I am a big snake fan. I dont keep them as pets because they belong in the wild for the same reason I dont keep birds in cages. Too me and only me and I dont concern myself with what other people do I just cant stand to see them locked up. Last edited by Worth1; April 21, 2015 at 08:23 PM. |

This is the first year I've had a greenhouse available to really grow tomatoes right... I grew about ten plants like the ones I'm holding in this photo. I'm planting them in the next couple days into the floor of the greenhouse as soon as I finish eating the spinach that's currently growing there.
Sure enjoying the greenhouse. Now that I've started the main tomato crop I'm applying just a bit of heat at night when it's below freezing. Last edited by joseph; April 22, 2015 at 09:51 AM. |

as far as pets go, Im not going to catch and keep a snake. My youngest daughter mainly just wants to look at them more than anything. Plus we have a litter of 5 1-yr old cats, something like a pet snake would be too much of a distraction. Last edited by Stvrob; April 21, 2015 at 09:56 PM. |

I like to push them. Vigoro granular, Miracle-Gro for tomatoes and Texas Tomato Food.
Epsom salts to prevent blossom end rot. My simple minded logic says "Growem quick before they die"! If you have good drainage, you can give them more water. If you can give them more water, you can give them more food. No science but I get tons (literally), of tomatoes every year. |

Love it! My neighbor has a son-in-law who has a blog about growing your own food, etc. Same reaction here. Haven't heard from him in three years. |

I feel the same way about composting plants that I've grown, so I found homes for the large backup tomato plants I had and delivered them already, since I just sowed another set yesterday. Even though I gave away lots of plants, after potting up there are 2 more trays of plants to haul in and out of the greenhouse every day. I'm writing a huge and detailed note to myself in my garden journal so that I do NOT make the same mistakes yet again next year and create all this unnecessary work for myself. |

Which sterilite bins do you use? Those look ideal for red solo cups.

In Morocco they are extremely common and people there have tons of recipes for cooking them. Even the pods themselves are edible. You just need to remove the stringy edges and you have something that can be cooked along the beans themselves. |

If you can get tons in Spring TX, then I should be able to get a few in Frisco TX. Old game but for me a new state. |
