Mucho Nacho is my favorite hybrid jalapeno. I grew Mammoth this year, which is OP, and grows fruit about half as long as Mucho Nacho, but just as fat.

Here my friends is the little tree that could.
I planted this thing some time ago. It has been through constant deer eating on it and drought. Two years of really cold weather down to ten degrees. This year it has only been watered one time. It has been ate on so much that about the only thing left is the root stock growing. I have given up on it and was going to just let it die. Well it won't die. Today I saw a sprout of the Hamlin orange it is supposed to be growing. The other root stock is more than likely a native sour orange. The other two citrus have made it too as well as the fig tree. Every time I give up on these trees they never fail to surprise me. This tree is around ten feet tall now. I was standing in a down pour to take the pictuer. A mom and her two cubs used to walk through my friend's front yard/dry riverbed in Lakeside. You could tell it was them because every single dog, cat, horse, coyote, etc, would suddenly get REALLY quiet.
When I'm hiking in the San Diego hills I always have a proper blade. Puma is the top of the food chain around here, it's a beautiful, majestic animal. The 07 attack in Humboldt Co. is quite a read. |

It happened near Devil's Kitchen Lake. I grew up on the edge of that lake. It was originally a private real estate development that went bankrupt and the government bought it afterward. The far side of the lake from where I lived is an area known as Panther's Den. I never knew there were actual panthers. They are so seclusive that they manage to remain unseen.
And yeah, Gerardo, I would hate to get in a fight with one. If you're in an area where you can't carry a gun, I'd want some of the pepper spray canisters made to deter bears. Or as much bang as you can make without running afoul of the law. I would think an air horn would work, too. Attacks on humans are rare and mostly involve starving cats. You have to make them believe that you are not worth the effort. Prey doesn't fight back. I threw some chicken bones into the cow field last summer, so they wouldn't stink up my trash. Late that night, my cat was sitting on the sill of the unscreened window, and I heard an odd mewling noise outside. I went to the window, and I could hear something making very wrong noises out there. I actually got a primal, instinctive feeling of "that thing is about to eat you." I have never felt that before, or been scared like that. I grabbed my cat and shut the window. Devil's kitchen is about five miles from where I live now, so it could have been that animal in the pic. I admire the animal very much and take no joy in seeing it die. I know they are wild animals and never meant to be pets, but I would still love to have one. My cat bites and scratches me all the time; that should be good training. |

Looks like they're funneling down through Missouri and headed straight to southern Illinois. We were overrun with cougars a few years back, you still hear about them snatching twenty-something males at closing time.

That's a pretty poor map for cougars they have been spotted in every county of Texas and I know they have been in south east Oklahoma for years.

Better watch out for those two legged ones, Worth. They're the biggest trouble around.

Okay getting away from the subject of wild cats of all types.
Since the weather has cooled off I can now enjoy the fruits of my canning labor. Today is perfect weather for beef stew and rice or maybe some homemade macaroni. Worth IMG_20151025_44767.jpg |

Macaroni it is.
One pound of semolina and one cup of all porpose flour. A dash of salt and olive oil and four eggs. Mix and let set. The dough has to be hard enough so the macaroni doesn't collapse. Worth IMG_20151025_8624.jpg IMG_20151025_18269.jpg IMG_20151025_27812.jpg |

Honest to goodness, Worth, I have never seen homemade macaroni. I am impressed and want some with dinner. Does your machine make only macaroni or is that a plate that is interchangeable? Do you let it dry a little first or cook it right away while it is still damp? I have become a bit of a "snob" with pasta since I have a friend who started making it at a farmers market to sell and I can't hardly stand store bought now.

Cool. I've never thought macaronis can be made at home.
