Carolyn's book inspired me to start growing heirlooms.

The night I suffered through a large kidney stone will stick in my mind forever. They say it is one of the most excruciating pains experienced by humankind and I don't doubt that for a second. You come out of it stronger in many ways and I'll bet your strength is gaining already. Get well soon.

I know that Dr. Male will be perfectly fine. I can tell she is an extremely strong person. That said, I will miss your posts during your recovery and I am sorry that you have to experience this.

Thank you very much for informing us, Mischka.

OT....speaking of Carolyn..since her book is no longer in print, is there any chance that some
wonderful person would take the time to post the list of her 100 heirloom varieties? I, for one,
would be very appreciative. Thanks in advance to that kind soul.

I usually ignore the sticky posts figuring that I already know what's there and head straight to the other posts--this will teach me in a profound way. Quite a shock to see that you're in such a serious condition--I wish you well and a full recovery, Carolyn.

"I remarked that this would be a good time to quit smoking and she admonished me with "shut up about that", so I let her off the hook - for now anyway." [...] When I mentioned that Mrs. M., her mother and her Polish aunts and sisters were having one of their pierogie parties, she gave out a groan and said she could go for some of those.
I didn't know you are Polish, as I've mention before my husband is too, born and raised in Poland in fact he's there right now and probably enjoying (being spoiled) with all the wonderful Polish food. His Polish mother smoked too (until she was 87 years old), as do I. Yes, the people who care about us do lovingly (with exasperation) encourage us stubborn smokers to quit.

May we hear from you soon meanwhile let your body heal, best wishes, Carolyn.

Retiree.. thank you, thank you, thank you!!]

And to think there are close to 20 that I haven't even heard of. Tania, I will be
spending some time on your site. The bad part is that there will be likely many
new ones that I want to grow. Will it never end???

Oh, and thank you Carolyn for assembling such a mighty list.
