Me too. But it will be a while . I just sowed my seeds today. Apprx. 100 days from now (some time in Jun) I should be able seeing some results.

Then perhaps we need a thread by this title :

" REPORT YOUR versus REVIEW !".

I will do that .

There is a dwarf Emerald Giant and a Dwarf Beryl Beauty. Since you are comparing to Jade Beauty I am assuming you are referring to Beryl Beauty since its much closer in size to Jade. I'm curious to see the results on this one. I've got seeds for both, as well as seeds for Emerald giant and Big Green Dwarf (also similar in size), but was forced to choose one from each pair.

So far with everything being the same growing conditions and several plants to observe of the same variety.
Aunt Ruby's German Green seems to be out performing Emerald Evergreen.
This is with cold nights in the 40's and 50's soil temps in the 50's at night and warming up to around 60 in the day.
The main stem is more stocky and is greener.
I am not trying to chose varieties for the Texas Heat I am trying to chose varieties that do well in colder weather as crazy as that may sound coming from where I live.
Selecting large fruited varieties for heat tolerance here is a pipe dream.
I guess to an extent I can compare two more also.
Sun Gold VS Galina's.
Sun Gold which I am not growing this year has always dropped its first blossoms due to cold weather.
Galina's seems to be as happy as can be in the cold weather and is setting fruit as fast as it puts out blooms, so is black cherry.
As for flavor right now I dont really care one way or the other almost anything is better that store bought.

Where did I go wrong, wait, don't tell me but I'll share with you my comment about this thread.

Versus to me means comparing two varieties that are very similar, maybe like

Omars Lebanese vs Large Pink Bulgarian

Aunt Ruby's German Green vs maybe MalachiteBox,both large, but not ARGG vs Verde Claro( cherrysize)

Earl of Edgecombe vs Jaunne Flamme, but not Earl vs OrangeMinsk/

I think it's one issue to do a versus thread with similar varieties, but I think many here are just looking for info about individual varieties, which may be can be found elsewhere?

Yes,just me own opinion, take it or leave it,or wasn't the song something like...let it be lonely?

That was the original intention of this thread. As I clarified in post 24: the same color, growth habit, and approximate size.

Bottom line, though, you will never know which of two similar varieties is best for you, until you grow them side by side in your own conditions. And maybe in a couple of different seasons too.

I always try to line up a few similar ones to compare in the same year.
Other people's reports are a very helpful guideline, but they can also be completely wrong for my conditions... you never know until you try.

I agree, Bower, that other peoples reports are only a useful guideline. I also check the geographic origin of those reports. Your evaluations, for example, are more valuable to me than those of growers in the Southern U.S. (which is why I'll be growing Napoli a Fiaschetto this year).
