Default What would nosh the tips of asparagus?

This is the first year I've had pest problems with asparagus other than asparagus beetles. I have a fence, so it likely couldn't be deer (if they like it). Rabbits might be able to squeeze, or a bunny I should say. Moles, voles, and squirrels could all be in play...

Strangely, something has also eaten just two of my zinnias at the other end of the garden. Among a bed of zinnias, two were chosen.

Would love to know.

Thanks!

Did you see the Nature(?) special about the guy that lived with mule deer in Wyoming? When it comes to fences, they have anti-gravity.

Ha, yeah! I have seen one in a different garden with a shorter fence, but I figured a deer would eat the stalk down to the ground. Just the "tree" is munched off.

Nothing touched my Asp for years but my pups. They would race me to the garden and snip every
new shoot. So i built a full cage over the bed. Deer will taste anything but don't usually go for it.
Once the shoots fern up i took the cage off.
I grow a 'diversion tactic' plot of Mammoth grey sunflowers to keep the deer and birds happy.

I have just about every critter so not sure what is after yours.
