JD's Special C Tex
I want to try about 50 JDs this year, and need to know a good source for these seeds. If any one has suggestions for some quality JD seeds, please let me know. Depending on germination rates, maybe some local trades, and a possible late planting, I imagine 100 seeds is about what I need.
Thanks. Don

I have a good amount of JDs. Germination is about 85% as of last month's test. I do about 25-40 seeds in a packet that weighs a bit over 0.1 gram or I can make up 1 gram packs too.

Thank you WI Sunflower. PM me your mailing address and how much I owe you, and I'll send that as soon as I hear from you.
Thank you very much for the offer. Don

Finally Found the plants!
This was my favorite tomato from 2018. I've been looking for plants everywhere since the beginning of February. No one had them. The seeds can be difficult to find also. Yestrday they showed up at an independently owned nursery, so I picked up two plants. Alleged to be a cross of Early Girl F1 and Black Krim, according to Tatiana's Tomato Base.

Both Arbor Gate in Tomball and Wabash Feed On N. Shepherd had these plants last Saturday.

I'm by the Kemah Boardwalk, so Tomball is quite a drive for me. I could do Wabash Feed Store if I had to. It looks like an interesting place. Next year I'll keep the feed store in mind if I can't find the plants closer to home. Thanks for the info. Have you grown JD's?

I have grown JD's Special C Tex since about 2003. It is one of my favorites. More productive here than Cherokee Purple.

Now that’s interesting. I’ll have to try it again. The one time I had it, maybe 3 years ago or so, I got nothing from it and a ton from CP. Could have been the individual plants as they were from different nurseries.

I love JD's some years and others it is a disappointment. It seems to change size, taste and production depending on the weather and it is also one of the most susceptible balck tomatoes to gray mold. Some years it produces the tastiest black tomatoes that are large and juicy and other years it will make lots of smaller fruit. I have been growing it for a long time and it gets set out every year and is one of my favorites despite my never being sure how it will perform from year to year.

It is about average. Here you are going to get Early Blight sooner or later, even spraying with Daconil weekly and after every storm. It is not a disease magnet though.
