Suggestion about a technical section of the forum
Hello to everybody,
I'm thinking that a section of the forum for the strictly technical stuff will be useful to everyone. I mean building self watering containers or other stuff like this, diy greenhouses, irrigation systems, automation regarding the gardening, other growing systems (like hydroponics or aeroponics). When I started this year with the seddlings I had to read tons of pages on the internet, for the greenhouse also. Here are a lot of tomatovillians who build a lot of diy stuff, and I suppose will be a benefit for the TV forum to have a technical section, in this way people can learn from other people experience or can make a good decision when they try to start a new thing. For example, I built some 5 gallon earthtainers for seedlings, a greenhouse, a irrigation system and all were posted on a single topic, this making difficult for other people to find and learn from my work, or to get any critics, suggestion or knowledge from more experienced people. In my opinion some technical things can make easier and fun the tomato trip from seedling to the kitchen table. Best regards, Catalin |

Sounds like a good idea, Catalin - anyone else interested?

I think a DIY section would be great. Everything from the earthtainers Ray built to Dcarch's portable greenhouse could be right in one place.

I think it sounds good. I'm reminded of the recent construction of the patio planters that are self-watering. To have those projects and other SWC's in one location. I can see projects where planters are built into wooden patios. And like Catalin posted, it would help with searching for the information.

Great idea! We all use different equipment and techniques that make things easier. Two heads are better then one. Just imagine what you could do with 3582 heads.

Sounds like a great idea to me-I am not handy at all with my hands, so I sure could use help and learn.

Great idea, though I'd consider a less intimidating title. Technical gives me visions of that college biology class I was forced to take. Gear, Irrigation & DYI maybe?

I think it's a good idea to have all DIY projects, irrigation, etc., in one section.

Tessa, I like that title, with a caveat.
How about "DIY WORKSHOP" Ted
