Marsha I forgot to add that I received the seeds from Sakharnyi Pudovichok from your SASE offer last year and thank you as mentioned above the flavor was fantastic. Definitely one of the best flavored tomato I have eaten since i was a young child eating them like apples in my Aunt's garden when we traveled to Michigan. Actually I will post those photos if I can locate them as they are quite funny.

Although it did not have the zip that New Big Dwarf had last season, the flavor was very balanced with full tomato goodness and comparable in overall satisfaction to Tasmanian Chocolate, which was my 2nd favorite from last season. I will see how the others compare going forward.

Yeah man my plants produce insanely in good years. Don't be afraid to cull some fruits if you want bigger tomatoes. My take on flavor is that it's OK, really good texture, but I don't really like red tomatoes much for fresh eating. It makes a killer salsa though and is great for processing.

That is what I wanted to hear as i mainly grew them for salsa or sauce.

Jpop, you mention the DE caking.
Have you ever tried mixing it with water and spraying it on?
I used about a cup in a gallon of water. No other additives or chems and it killed armyworms, hornworms and aphids and then left an nice residue on the foliage.

Sakharnyi Pudovichok (seeds from ContainerTed) did very well for me outdoors in a decidedly cool summer last season. It was also one of my 2 favorites, along with George Detsikas Italian Red. Both are returning this year.

I have not tried that yet, thank you. Did you have to strain it first and what type of sprayer? Thanks.

Great to hear, I am surprised you do not see more of this variety on grow lists or favorites as it is a great tomato IMHO. Mine are obviously container grown and received seeds form Marsha in her SASE seed giveaway last year.

Top is another Sakharnyi Pudovichok and the bottom is Alex Popovich. Although very similar in shape and color, the flavor profiles are different. I recently gave the SP a solid 8.5, and i would also give the AP the same. The differences would be personal preference. The SP has a bit more tang to the flavor while the AP is slightly sweeter. I liked the SP a touch better and my wife preferred the AP. Either way both have very full tomato flavor, are not bland in the least, and would not hesitate to grow either next year.

jpop...I use to love Neves Azorean Red until I grew and tasted Aker's West Virginia. Great south Florida tomato for me. I didn't even grow Neves Azorean Red this season, but I like higher acid tomato taste. NAR is a great tomato, but like Aker's much better...just my opinion.
