Anyone Ever Grow Old Brooks? - Page 3

In 2009, I saw my 40 plants of Mountain Fresh wiped out in less than a week from late blight. They were heavily loaded with large green tomatoes. I scanned the online catalogs for tomato varieties that were late resistant. I purchased seed of Legend and Old Brooks from Totally Tomatoes. Legend was a weak growing determinate for me. Old Brooks was much better. It and Manapal were grown without irrigation Old Brooks was much larger. In 2012 I had a row of Old Brooks, Manapal, and a yellow variety called Erwin. Manapal was the better producer. I didn’t plant Old Brooks this year. It was likely a mistake due to the persistence of disease due to an extremely wet summer. Manapal is my favorite so far. It eventually succumbed to disease.

Thank you. I will try it again. I grew it one year and it was not true to type and I did not enjoy what that plant produced.
