Default If you had to grow only 1 PLUM

Looks like I might be starting fresh with a new batch of seeds ?

Having major house renovation this year, so I've scaled back - planting triplets/quads of singles each - 1 Red, 1 Black, etc. Anyhow, not having great luck with the plums I've germinated and the extra seeds I've put in, germination seems iffy (sofar only 1 has come up). So I've got 2 plums in solo cups that don't look healthy and the new seeds, only 1 has come up so I suspect not a great source...

Anyhow, if you had only 1 PLUM you could plant, which one would it be.

Speckled Roman is my number 2. Russian Big Roma is my number 1. Each season I grow 10 of each. Actually, last year I had a few Russian Big Roma plants that produced Speckled Russian Big Roma, but I didn't save this seeds. Maybe I should have.

Some sort of heart tomato instead.
Not what you wanted to hear but bigger better flavor and just as meaty.

giant garden paste kept churning out the tomatoes last Summer. all the way to frost. of all the outside tomatoes it never blinked at the diseases going on all around it and last year was bad here.

Yes, for a smaller plum, well I'm not sure about ALL of the fruits being plum shaped see the pictures in the link below,I would agree.

And I knew Heidi very well and here's why.

Just for sauce, consider Martino’s Roma, a very productive determinate that, while a bit on the late side for me, produces lots of fruit in a short time, great for big batches of sauce making marathons. For dual purpose indeterminates, we love the flavor of Kosovo, Prue, and Amish Paste. Opalka is also wonderful, though for me it tends to be susceptible to blossom end rot.

Well, if it wouldn't be prone to disease, I would say Roma, since it is good enough to also eat fresh.
Hearts are nice and meaty and good but imo not as dry as some real pastes.
Some thoughts on some I've grown: Black Plum is a plum but not a paste, Ludmilla's plum is completely tasteless (tried fresh, not sure in a sauce), De Barao is very meaty, productive, hardy, can be taken in consideration.

I would say Orange Roma, so delicious, crispy and the taste is fantastic and it looks great too.
