Default Summer Rain - argh

Today, two strong rain showers with hail interrupted our sunny afternoon. I inspected the damages afterwards and noticed at least one container was all flooded - the water could not leak out fast enough. The drainage pipe on the roof isn't functioning well, so in the case of a strong shower, the floodgates are open and all containers underneath get soaking wet.

Sigh. It was decided that changing the soil would be the best option and salvage method. I took a new bucket and filled it with fresh, dry soil, then added the poor plant with some of its root ball (all soaking wet) and on top, another layer of fresh soil. Then, I moved it to another safe location on the other side of the veranda which is more protected.
Sniff. The plant was really doing well and about to open its blossoms. It is OK for now, I hope: don't want to lose my Indigo Cherry Drops (or any other variety..)

The blockage on the roof needs to be fixed that is for sure. The containers underneath cannot all be moved... it is a great place for growing once the problem gets fixed.

Update morning after: they all seem to be alive and thriving. So I am hopefull they'll make it and the roots aren't drowned / they'll be able to re-grow.

Your plants are adjusting ;>)

Thunderstorms here where I am now, woke me up. I'm working for home today and was hoping I could take a break mid-day to trim some leaves off the tomatoes. We'll see...

The one which was flooded the most is definitely wilting now. It was promptly moved to a shadier location.
I hope it can survive and not only that, but thrive and produce many Indigo Cherries this season.

The roots may be rotted.
If it gets worse as a last resort I would try cloning it.

Yep, sogginess is the enemy nr One for tomatoes.
I trust they are resilient. As I acted as soon as I could, I hope their life will be spared...

I would replant in a tray horizontal, bury as much as the stem as you can.
I would move it indoors for a more steady temp until the crisis is over.
