Well Worth, at 50 +++ I"m hot LOL.
So ... Winter turned to 70's for weeks. Then snow, then more warm summer-like weather. Then 40's for weeks. I feel like a whole year past already and its time for next years growing season. Peaches budded out this week. 28 tomorrow night. - Lisa |

Peaches budding here, too, and forecast low of 30 two nights from now. Plum trees have also bloomed. The cherry trees have not. They must be smarter.

We are up to a record breaking temperature of 83F today. Holy macaroni
BACKGROUND: my location is designated as Heat Zone 1. What it means is that RARELY during the whole season highs reach and exceed 85F. We are talking about summer now. Our average April temperature range is 43F to 59F. Gardeneer |

We have had snow and hail today. Some of my plants in greenhouse for the day balming in 40 degree weather.
So far my perennials bulbs are about 3 weeks ahead than last year. But I had some experimental WOW/ no plants/ and water froze solid couple of days ago. My planting date into WOW is about April 20 same as last year though. |

Scratch that about the cherry trees; they are blooming. Low of 29 tomorrow night. Looks like no fruit this year. It's going to be clear, too, so the unheated greenhouse temp is going to drop into the mid-20's. I've been scavenging horse troughs, buckets, and bins, and started filling them up with water in the greenhouse. Tomorrow will be sunny, so the water should have a chance to heat up.

Miss Cleo sees lots and lots of tomatoes in our future as long as we can keep them watered.
My seedlings are off to a good start, but plant out is over 6 weeks away for me. |

So far... it is cold. I have doubled my electric in the month of March heating and running fans. That doesn't include gas for the two gas furnaces. good thing I planted an extra 100 10" hanging baskets this year. that should cover the cost of heating for two months maybe even 3. *sigh* 19 for Saturday nights forecast. day time highs less than 40 for most of the next week, again.

I am planning on doing hanging baskets next year. Do you buy seeds or do plugs? I found a guy locally that sells 105 plug trays for 35$. Million Bell, Petunias etc. I haven't been able to find a reasonable price on seeds for a lot of the newer hybrids.
