Default vinson watts

Anyone growing this?
I like the story. And am thinking about growing it, but there are a lot of tempting pink beefsteak tomatoes.

I grew Vinson Watts last year after I heard it proclaimed to be as good as Brandywine. I think it is similar to Brandywine but that is subjective on my part.

I'm growing 1 Vinson Watts plant again this year. It is definitely worth growing IMHO.

I think it is worth trying. It is pretty productive and disease resistant and like you said - a great story to go along with it. I graduated from Berea College and currently work at Berea College, so it makes the story even more enticing for me. Here is an article written about Vinson Watts and his tomato back in 2006 in the Lexington Herald-Leader. Since then, Vinson Watts passed away in 2008. He maintained this tomato for 52 years. Bill Best has some the original seeds collected from Vinson Watts himself: http://www.heirlooms.org/other-heirlooms.html. Bill also sells fresh seeds: http://www.heirlooms.org/heirloom-tomatoes.html.

I grew it one year, but had a bad wilt problem with it and a few others in the same area of the garden. It was either an F or V wilt, but back then I didn't know how to tell the difference.

It's a very nice tomato, and was productive up until it succumbed to the wilt.
