In honor of their incredible fight back , I'm going with these guys this season..maybe lower production..maybe not. we shall see! they deserve to live. cool thing is the stems are 1/4" dia. already.

im no doctor!! they did it on their own! the dead leaves and stems just dried up. eventually the stems just generated some very tiny leaves

My experience with container growing has been if the roots are good, the plant recovers. They grow like weeds, haha. Last year, some mildew or "something" got a couple of my Parks Whopper plants. I cut them back to stubs and they recovered and made nice big tomatoes. They were still going great until fall finally froze them out.

Root damage, on the other hand, they don't recover well from. I had plants flooded and rotting in containers the first year, bad soil mix for torrential rains we had that year. I dumped those plants out and repotted in looser soil, but they were weak plants all summer and the only ones that had to be culled due to developing blght.
