Orange Jazz
Here is our photo experience with "Orange Jazz" so far this season. It sure is prolific! The plant has been very healthy, aggressive and disease resistant for us. I hope the taste is as good as what others have written about Orange Jazz! It won't be long now until we find out!

My first Orange Jazz "seedling" didn't make it. The one seed produced two seedlings that each lacked chlorophyll. Edgar and Johnny Winter, anyone?
The second seed was a success. |

OJ is a beast. If the tomatoes were a bit smaller it would be pretty close to perfect. Fun as hell to grow too, seeing all those huge maters

yours is a beauty. I grew it last year and had only one plant. I was a bit disappointed for what I like in a tomato, it was beautiful, just a little too soft and bland for me. taste and texture is a preference. maybe you will think it is to die for. but it is beautiful. maybe I will try it again next year to see if it was an anomaly or it just isn't one I love. I liked the texture of sweet ozark orange much better.

The taste is good. A bit more acidic than I like in a orange tomato, but many family members & customers loved it. Taste is so subjective, but it most defiantly isn't bland. Some of the bigger ones tend to have a core, but when they weigh 2lbs that is typical.

As with some of our other tomatoes, the best flavor and texture are often present before the fruits reach "full" color.
Sometimes picking "early" is the solution. Quote:

I grew it and it produced a few very large tomatoes with mild but delicious taste

Interesting.
Tomatoes are unpredictable. Orange Jazz is one of those that has a high ceiling, but it seems to be variable depending on climate, soil and probably some other things as well. |
