Powdery Mildew

I have a Summer Wine Ninebark (large flowering shrub) near my tomato patch that has powdery mildew and seems to be killing a section of the plant. Does anyone know an organic (not necessarily organic, but something I can spray that won't harm my tomatoes) method that will stop/kill the powdery mildew.

A weak solution of milk and water will work. The bacteria in the milk will take up space on the leaves and not leave any room for the PM to grow. Some Giant Pumpkin growers do this.

If just powdery mildew has been the problem on squash, this has worked for me too! (ie i usually get PM and borers)

A quarter cup of 3% peroxide in a quart of water might work, too. I've not used it, but the hydro folks swear by it.

Neem oil can inhibit further PM, it also drives off assorted vermin and makes everything smell funky-nice. Plus you can also spray the maters with it and they won't mind one bit.

I have also read 1 1/2 tbsp baking soda and 1 tbsp veg oil into 1 1/2 galllon of water.

I read this in a book that I have. Make a fresh batch for each needed application.

I've used Serenade - it helped a lot - and would be especially good as a preventive for your tomato plants.
