Default Heavy fruit snapping stem

This is my first year growing Pink Oxheart. It's in a 5ft ring support. It was doing very nicely, but now the weight of the fruit is causing the branch holding the fruit to snap. Any suggestions?

First, support that Pink Oxheart with a sling,if you know what I mean, then just cover the place where the branch snapped with some tape so that wound doesn't get infected..

Yes, it happens a lot . Can I assume that you have just the one plant?

You may have explained this before in one of your other threads or posts here. But does Pink Oxheart (heart)have another name or is this one you sourced yourself as an heirloom.

Slings made out of tights (pantyhose) or similar, like how people support trellised squash or melons, yes? Right, I'll give that a go.

I was given the Pink Oxheart as a young plant, so I don't know the origin of the seed. Would you like me to try and find out?

Not necessarily. Just put some strip through the mass middle of the cluster and tie at the base of a higher branch. Best done before the branch kinks or snaps, one usually can see when something will get heavy.

Success! Thanks Carolyn and zipcode! The largest so far is 200g / 7oz which is pretty great for outdoors and halfway up an Irish mountain.
