Here is one that will scorch the sinuses right out of your face. No laughing matter to eat it raw - in fact, it might hurt you. The Bombay Morich is a naga.

My wife found out the best way to use them in cooking soups and chilis is to cut up and put them in those cheese cloth string top (tied closured)pouches and dredge(infuse) for allotted times.Same manner for sprucing up jared pickles, salsas etc.Length of time is up to the individuals tastes and tolerances.Scott, is that naga(Bombay Morich) full ripe?Or does it turn fire engine red?

I will tell Kim no trinadad scorp peppers in chili i do not think she knows just how hot they are. It might make a memory though.

As for the contest perhaps i should have a written warning of those who want to partake. if people don't want to do it or the bar leaders say no i'll just use them for decoration.

Sir, the idea of getting drunk people to eat these peppers is frightening. I would run away from that idea as fast as possible!

Now, you could flavor some vodka with the peppers, and add them to a spicy drink, but a single superhot per bottle of vodka would probably do it.

I would think the kind of bar where the bartender would let you do something like is also the kind of bar where a really big guy would "repay" you good if he lost money over a hot pepper.

I think a better bet would be to start a festival or something. Then sell t-shirts.

I grew some Trinidad Scorpions this last summer and although I didn't try any right off the plant, I did put a number of slits vertically down a single pepper and processed it within a jar of salsa. Although it gave the salsa a stronger taste, the pepper in the middle wasn't eye watering hot. Could the vinegar/lime juice have affected the heat or does the heat of individual peppers vary within the same plant?

Pondgardener, I have an Arabian dish that i make with Jalapeno pepper's that i add fresh lemon juice to. The lemon juice nutralizes the hot from the pepper's, so yes, most likely the vinegar/lime juice does have an affect on the peppers heat level.

It's all very relative, or maybe dependent on your relatives ...

I agree doing this to people is the same as putting LSD in their drink.

At work some of the guys had a habanero eating contest.

What I did was get some vanilla ice cream and cut up a habanero really fine and put in the ice cream.

I told the people what it was they tried it and they liked it.

What can I say.
