Default Margaret Curtain: how did she get that?

Margaret Curtain with stripes.
how did she get that and what does it mean?
should I safe seeds from this tomato or is it just a freak of nature?

the stripes were on the unripe fruit and I thought they would go away but they stayed....

Charline, were they all that way or just the one in the picture. Here is a link to my grow out and you can see stripes.

I have two or three on one plant and the other fruits were normal.
I can see that you had one too. Did you save seeds from this one?

I would not worry about it. It seems that stripes may be more pronounced on some fruit. Just a characteristic of the variety.

This is just one of Margaret's more promiscuous children wearing leopard print.

Mine were like that too, I didn't think anything of it at the time. Was my first time growing this variety so I thought it was normal. Sure was a good prolific tomato!

Except for a bee cross, all saved seed from any fruit on a plant are genetically the same as any other fruit on the plant. If you had a cross, it wouldnt show up on the same plant, it would show up in it's offspring, fron the seeds. So the striped ones you see are just variations showing for any of a bunch of different reasons. ( Now I'm sure one of the experts will come by to correct me!)
So, yes, you could definitely save seeds from that one.

I know my toms have stripes but I'll have to check and see if they look like yours.
