Bumblebee vs Vernissage

Has anyone compared pink bumblebee to pink vernissage. Or purple bumblebee to black vernissage?
I am looking for the tastier....

Good question, one that I have been often thinking about .. when browsing seed catalogues.
(Bakers was the one that listed Vernissage I think..)

I grew Pink & Purple Bumblebee as well as black vernissage last year. None of the three were more than average as regards to flavor. If I had to choose, I would take the pink bumblebee over the other two. The black vernissage was a bit to tart for my liking. They did not produce as well as the bumblebees either. All of them had a tough skin, but I did not have any splitting issues. Of course, as you have probably heard many times on this site, taste is subjective depending on ones personal likes as well and the area and conditions it is grown under.

Hmmm. I was going to grow Purple Bumblebee but skipped it last minute.
I have a variety of my own that looks like those but it is grape shaped with red flesh. Not great tasting, just balanced flavor but I like its color and shape.

Other than Black Vernissage being bigger, they are hard to tell apart.

The pic below is a little misleading because the PBB in it is huge and the BV are toward the smaller end of their size range. Fruit closest to the camera is the PBB. The rest are BV.

I have one that looks like that, too. My fruit may not be as pointy, but they are cherry-sized. I have no idea what the variety name is.

To further confuse the PBB vs BV debate, there is also Ania, which looks just like both of them. I have not tried it: http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Ania

I got my seeds from cherry/grape tomato package sold by TJ's. They called them Heirloom but we know that probably it meant OP.

My purple bumblebee was also a very big cherry with hard skin and mediocre taste. I just found the looks of it really impressive and that's why I grow it again. It was also very productive

I agree purple bb has tough skin, but for me pink bb is really good and the skins are thin and Sunrise Bumblebee is definitely the best of the group.

We grew Purple, Pink, and Sunrise Bumblebee last year. All three looked really nice. The taste for us was average, but not worth planting this year. We haven't grown the Vernissage yet, so I can't compare them.

We also grew Bosque Blue Bumblebee. It was the prettiest of the 4.

Although it is unrelated to the other bumble bees, in that it did not come from Fred Hempel, Bosque Blue Bumble Bee is one of my favorite varieties. Big yield, attractive appearance, no cracking, and a lightly sweet delicious taste. I grow it every year.

Now THAT is a good looking tomato. Wish I would have discovered it a few weeks ago, will have to add it to my 2018 lineup.
