Thanks for all the feedback on the old varieties. Carolyn, thanks on the suggestion of Wins All, I am actually growing a PL version (whatever that is) of it. I will get the right one next year. I also want to thank Mike for providing a good selection of these old tomatoes on his site. I think it would be great to have a place to get more feedback from others that have grown some of these out. I get the sense that the lack of favorites out there is because many tend to be similar in flavor, color etc. I guess I was romancing on reading the catalogs and it seems they were good sales people in those days. Anyway I have grown some like Favorite, Ferris Wheel, Stump of the World that have been well received by others (especially older folk in my family). They romance that they are what they remember of a good tomato which makes laugh. I also see lots of work out there to provide older varieties. For example Victory offers 3 different dwarf champions alone. It would be nice to get a little more info on all these. I think what American Gardener is doing is going to be a great start for getting more people to try and rate many unknown older varieties. I will try 4 I was interested in and post what I think of them. Anyway thanks to all who gave me some feedback.
