Correct! Aphids do spread viruses, but in Ginny's case, it was spread by white flying aphids, known as whiteflies. You can see them on the pepper leaves in that one photo. Whiteflies really love peppers, even more than tomatoes. Ginny had TYLCV, the only way a plant gets that is via whiteflies, (the silverlepaf whitefly).

Intersting in South and Central Florida, we have a scourge of many more ailments than most of the north, but aphids on tomatoes don't seem to be one of them.

Jillian, I bought a different brand of yellow sticky trap because I cheaped out for a dollar, and within 4 hours on the first day it had 2 adult lizards trapped and then a bird was stuck and removing the bird pulled out several of it feathers.i felt just horrible, and I went back to the Seabright labs ones, perfect for whiteflies and leafminer flies, but no birds or lizards harmed.

Marsha, which pepper photo do you see them in? I think you are seeing the diatomaceous earth that i sprinkled on everything.

I check the leaves on top and undersides as often as possible and i have not been seeing the flies or eggs anymore.

I think I was wrong. I expanded the picture, and I think it is just spray. No whiteflies. Very sorry to alarm you.

Marsha - should I spray my seedlings? I bring them in at night and out during the day when it isnt raining. But one day it rained unexpectedly when i was running errands.

See below what has started to show up on the leaves... its been humid, damp and cold and they got rained on Thursday.



Also can you copy and paste your recipe here ? Always good to share again with others.. :-)

My pepper harvest this morning... :-)

Fresh eggs from my moms chickens that I bought her. She has aracunas, production reds, and a couple of white hens (not sure what type they are as I only bought her the aracunas and production reds). The hens have free range of the yard and eat bugs and grass and whatever else they can find. These eggs are the richest, buttery type eggs Ive ever had. Yummy! My dad picked up some huge java black chickens and they will start laying soon. I need to Google those... :-)



Its strawberry season in central Florida. We passed a field where they were picking strawberries yesterday and got a flat of strawberries. I didnt want to put them in the fridge but we have sugar ants that would like to eat them. But these are soooooo tasty.

I have a few tomato plants growing outside but they are not really liking this weather.

The majority of the seedlings will go out in February. Right now I put them outside during the day and inside at night.
