Default self-pruning of diseased foliage

Hey guys- wasn't sure if this belonged in crosstalk, pests/diseases, or here

Some of my plants seem to do an excellent job of maintaining general health by voluntarily dropping leaves and stems in the presence of foliar disease....For example, my JBT plant is as healthy as ever while almost everything else in the garden is toast. I notice that it is much more willing and able to 'ditch' it's plagued portions.

I imagine this is a huge part of the varying degrees of disease resistance in tomato plants? Are there any known alleles that call for this? I imagine these are crucial players in breeding for disease resistance.
