Default Grow lights for seed starting

If you plan on making a light hood to grow your seedlings under this year send me a "PM" as to what you are planning and maybe I can give you some CFL's for your project. They are 23watt 6400k bulbs that only require a regular screw in light bulb base. I can't use them as they are for 60hz (USA) operation. Ami

60hz or 50hz, is that the question?

or is it 220vac v.s. 110Vac?

dcarch, voltage was never the problem as I planned to use a transformer or wire them in series as pairs. They just won't fire on 50hz. I do have a 48vdc power supply and a 500watt 48vdc to 115vac 60hz inverter I could use but just don't want to hassle it. Ami

OK, got my 26watt, 6400k, 50hz, CFL's. Mounted my light fixture to my bench and fired it up. In another 3 weeks will be sowing seed into my "Jump Start 81" Pellet Greenhouse. Same as Jiffy 7's sold by HydroFarm. Here's some pictures of it lit up. Ami

That looks great, Ami! Will show it to my son (and hope he will build me a similar one!).
