Not that I strive for super early fruits, but for the 5th consecutive year my first ripe will be Sungold F1--the first is blushing today (the latest first ripe in the past 5 years has been July 5th, so a fair amount behind what was the latest pace). Let the flood gates open!

While we impatiently wait for tomatoes, we did get a nice garlic harvest.

I will never declare victory because your luck can change on a dime, but I'm making good progress in the septoria battle in the main garden. The weather has cooperated some as well. Some plants are more resistant than others and still look decent, others have been hacked pretty severely and have a bit of a palm tree look especially the Mikado Black below) . But new growth is largely looking good. I plan on another treatment tomorrow or Tuesday evening. The bucket grown dwarf tomatoes are doing great and are not suffering from septoria. We've only gotten Sungolds so far, but looks like I'm seeing a touch of blush in our experiment yellow PL cherry and Gold Rush currant. The Wisconsin 55, Stupice, and Galen's Yellow dwarf will probably be after those.

Thanks Robin! It's been a battle with septoria in the main garden but I'm making progress. In buckets, Left to right (first one is a bit cut off), Jeremy's stripes, Galen's yellow, Jeremy's stripes, Galen's yellow and Vince's haze

Second ripe variety, Gold Rush Currant! My son and I each had one. Sweet, juicy and intense tomato flavor. Looking forward to trying more to get taste for more nuances.

First Mikado Black (114g 4.02 oz) 66 days from transplant. Not sure if it is usually this early or if ripening has been sped up because plant has been pruned severely due to septoria (which is improving). Juicy, good tomato flavor, rich, earthy, good acidity, not terribly sweet--good tomato, interesting to see how the rest taste.

Winter started today, about 7". 20-30 miles to my south they've got 14-18"!
