Default Getting Ready For Salmon Fishing Season On The Rogue River

A snapshot from my Son's house / deck in Grants Pass, OR. on the Rogue River which runs across southern Oregon to the Pacific:

He tells me that they should be catching Salmon within the next few weeks. Time for a road trip up North.

That's a fine deck, Raybo, with a great view! You could practically fish from the deck, there...

Looks like the view from my back porch during a heavy rain storm.

Quit it! That kind of talk makes me homesick even after more than fifty years away from Oregon.

Bower - The house / deck are about 50 feet above the river, so with some skillful casting, yes you could fish from the deck - but my son prefers to put on hip boots and wade out into the river.

Worth - leave it to you to always come up with a funny quip.

I don't know why I am still working down here in Silicon Valley with all the traffic congestion, etc. while my son wakes up every morning to this view. Something is backwards here.

Lovely picture. I don't eat salmon anymore, but sure loved it when we caught it fresh like that By the time it gets here, it's not at all the same.

Is this the son who has the son that is involved in soccer? Or are they still in Europe?
I love Oregon; my son lives in Portland and I was amazed at how little traffic there is compared to what's in my city. It reminded me of CA in the early 70's, the freeway flow. I keep thinking of how nice and green everything looked during my visit. Maybe I'll end up in the PNW one day...

Ray,
Reminds me of my grandmothers house that was on the Russian river in Healdsberg. Her house had a balcony over looking the river and we could see the fish swimming around in the river as the water was that clear.

Hey Ami and Peebee!

Living on the edge of a river must be very enjoyable as you experienced in Healdsberg. The rushing water would put you to sleep every night.
In addition to Elk and Bison hunting, this son likes the lifestyle of raising chickens for fresh eggs each day:

They even have a Peacock who is VERY territorial:

My older son moved his family to the Netherlands last year so that his son could one day play for the Dutch team AJAX:

He is receiving great training in their Youth Academy and making many friends:

The family really enjoys living in Haarlem:

Two sons - - Two completely different lifestyles....

As young people, we all grew up in the area of Sonoma County and swam in the Russian river often. Redwoods and forested areas were so beautiful, many of the ferns were bigger than me! Primordial. Apple orchards and wineries, dairies and farms - the coast; great place to have grown up in and enjoyed the bounty.

I guess this picture needs no commentary:

Even the cat is searching for fish:
