Default Topped plants

Rookie question: I just finished putting up a fence to keep the rabbits out of my garden--the damage (before I realized what was happening) is three topped plants (all indeterminate). The seedlings still have a few (two or three) side-leaves. its just getting warm in Minnesota and the plants are pretty small.

My question is: will the plants likely grow suckers and survive? or will I need to buy a few replacement plants?

They will almost surely send out new growth as long as there is a petiole left.

Thank you for that Van. I was not familiar with the word, petiole. It led me to compound leaves, explaining leaf and leaflet as opposed to branch. Always learning something around here.
