Spanish Tomato Experiment

For those interested in Spanish Tomatoes-For this season I was interested in finding and growing out a Spanish National Heirloom Tomato that was called Rosa de Barbastro which comes from the Huesca province. After searching for the right seeds and getting some help from Nicolas (thank you!), Moshou located seeds for both Rosa de Barbastro and some called Rosa de Huesca. The experiment grow out was to see if they were the same tomato. Verdict-NO! Rosa de Barbastro is a red tomato, rounded nice full flavor with acid like childhood tomatoes. Prolific and a winner for me. Rosa de Huesca was a bit larger pink tomato. It was nice tasting, more like a typical pink, juicy and overall larger fruit than Barbastro. I liked both but Barbastro was better for me.

The name Rosa kinda means it should be pink though, no?

Yes, Pink. Should it be Rosado de Huesca which are pink, not sure about the reds.

Rosa de Huesca- this tomato does not look very nice, I would not recognize it
Rosa de Barbastro- bad seeds from flowers pollinated by red tomato
