Strange, did you save seeds from that one? If it's not an environmental issue it's an interesting variation.

Taste is good, a bit sweet for my palate but most of my extended family prefer that. I like a little more acid bite.

I didn't save seeds, but kind of wish that I had. It tasted good, and was pretty but it wasn't a great tomato. There are so many others to try! Maybe I'll grow the REAL Csikos Botermo next year with new fresh seeds.

I don't know how to pronounce it for sure, but I was calling it "see-kos bo-tehr-moh".

Thanks Remy! I know lots of my friends and neighbors laugh at me out there crawling around on the ground with a camera taking pictures of tomatoes and peppers every year.

"Chi-kos boo-ter-moo" is how it sounded from the native pronunciation of the two words on Forvo.

Makes sense since you've got the double dots over the double "o"s. I would write that as oe with the e upside down in my music score. (In my non-tomato "sparetime" I'm a vocalist and I have to sing in lotsa languages). I'll have to check out that Forvo website.

Most of the early ones have been catfaced, but more good examples seem to be blushing now.

I believe at least three of the blue varieties will ripen their first fruits in the next few days, looking forward to trying those....

A pair of ripe Bing Cherries, another new variety from Tom Wagner. These are from a plant that Granite26 sent me a few weeks ago, it arrived in good shape with these two already set. I believe that the later fruit that are setting now are going to have event more blue shading to them. Flavor was good, I will definately grow this one again.



And a Blue Bayou. I'm starting to feel like if one of my neighbors watches me out there squeezing all these blue tomatoes every day they must think I've finally lost it with my tomato and pepper obsessions.

The first ones have been between a 6 or 7 on my personal scale, so good but not great so far. On a par with most of the smaller tomatoes I'm growing so far this year.

... and geez my Bing Cherry have not ripened yet! I was expecting darker but maybe the later ones.

If the birds will leave the ripening blue ones alone I should have a dozen or so of those to try tomorrow. Today was my first big harvest day of the larger varieties, we're starting to get into more serious poundage, last year it was early September before I was picking anything like this. Now if they'll just keep setting fruit!

I would think the birds wouldn't go after the blue tomatoes as I've read they usually go for things that are "red" fruits.
