Red lentils can be made into a tasty dip, much like a hummus. Most lentils are low priced as well.

La Michoacana has boneless chuck steak on for $3.99 lb, chicken leg quarters for 39¢ a lb ( 10 pound bag) and some marinated pork for carne al pastor that I may pick up a bit of for tacos on flour tortillas this week. Green cabbage is also on sale at 2 lbs for a dollar, so may use that in the tacos instead of lettuce. The chuck steak will probably be cut and used for chicken fried steak.

All low cost, so cheap eating is on this week and part of next.

Tonight was tilapia with some Montreal Steak seasoning, plus rice with a can of sliced mushrooms & some chicken bouillon. Everything was seasoned perfectly; my DH is a good cook!
Nan

PS- what's a flauta?

In my case, seasoned chicken, shredded and in a tortilla, then fried, usually deep fried. Mine were about 10 inches long and sort of fat around.

One of my Mexican co-workers and I had Mexican food the other day, it was his idea to go eat Mexican food.
The day before that he had a chicken fried steak with cream gravy and mashed potatoes and I had a hot dog.
I wish I would have gotten the chicken fried steak.
That was the saltiest wiener I have ever had in my life.
