Default Tell me....

I received seeds of Purple Beauty in a swap and started two plants this spring. I'm curious what others think of them as far as flavor and productivity go. ????

I wasnt all that impressed, but it could have been my grow medium. I hope you have better luck. I would chalk it up as grower error.

I didn't like it, either. Taste bland, fruit small, color is too dark to be attractive. I could not give it away.

Who knows, perhaps they will be something you can pickle to add more flavor too? Or perhaps stuff.

Default I'd like to reopen this...

I'm hoping to reopen this thread. I tried purple beauty for the first time today and I was thinking maybe I picked it too soon because it wasn't very good and not sweet at all. (I barely touched the pepper and it fell off). It was smaller than I expected for a bell pepper and it wasn't COMPLETELY purple, there was small amounts of green streaking. The flavor to me, was bland and tasted very "green" like grass. I'm really hoping I picked it too soon, as it is producing very well for me out there and lots of peppers are growing, but the first tasted pretty bad. What do you think, too soon or too bad?

Perhaps you picked a bit early but I will say that even when ripe, the purple pepper plants were not tasty. I would deff use them as a stuffer.
