Hmm, the dog suggestion reminds me of a gadget we saw at a local pioneer village-type place, a corn shucker (I think it was) attached to a treadmill for a dog. I didn't take a picture but it was a bit like this
http://www.americanartifacts.com/smma/advert/ay208.htm Now, out of context that looks a bit like a torture machine but at this place full of 19th-century farming implements, it looked a lot like the machines for people---treadle lathes and sewing machines and rotisserie spits to be turned by a child. Boy, do I feel lucky to live in this century sometimes! Z |
