I have finally narrowed down my 2014 list and was surprised at how many new ones I have. Really excited about some of the new Green when ripes, the Oxhearts, and white, yellow, oranges. At the moment I plan to sow the following:
*** = new varieties for me Amazon Chocolate PL Anna Russian "Mutant" My version since this is not the true one. This came from a commercial packet of Anna Russian seeds and is smaller but very meaty with very good flavor and fantastic for drying. Saved seeds have been coming true to this "rogue" ever since! Aurega (Auriga) similar to Jaunne Flamme Excellent for drying. Berkeley Tie Dye Heart Black Cherry Brad’s Black Heart ***Brandywine from Croatia ***Captain Lucky White ***Casey’s Pure Yellow Cherokee Green ***Cherokee Purple Heart Cowlick’s Brandywine PL Dagma's Perfection ***Dester ***Dixie Golden Giant ***Dwarf Mr. Snow ***Dwarf Sweet Sue PL ***Fish Lake Oxheart ***Giant Belgium ***Gildo Pietroboni ***Green Giant PL ***Grub’s Mystery Green PL ***Hege German Pink ***Honeydrop Cherry ***Humph Jaune Flamme ***Joe’s Pink Oxheart KBX PL ***Manyel ***Milka's Red Bulgarian ## C ’14 ***Monkey ★★★ (C ’14) ***Purple Brandy (Marizol Bratka) ***Rosella Purple (Dwarf) ***Russian #117 ## Siberian Pink Honey ) ***Stump of the World Sugar Drop Cherry ***Summer Cider ***Sweet Ozark Orange New variety being trialed (3 plants) ***Verna Orange ***Virginia Sweets ***Weisnichts Ukrainian ***Zolotaya Rapsodiya Alternates being considered or added if I find more space! All are favorites I hate to miss out on! Anna Maria's Heart Carbon Chianti Rose Porkchop Red Penna Never thought about the name of the one tomato variety being censored! (the one with the big black stars) I didn't name it!!!! But it sounds like a good tasting tomato so hope it didn't offend. My husband and I have had a good laugh over this! Wanted to cancel this message because it repeats what I said in previous post. Not sure how to do that!

I was wondering when the 2014 grow list thread would pop up
I have a mix of mainstays this year along with some new to me varieties (I am especially excited about trying some of the dwarf releases!) Cherry: Sungold - As always, it's my hubs fav Black Cherry - Thank you again, Ella. A new family fav last year. Blush - New to me Sweet Linda - New to me (potato leaf version of "Sweet as Linda") Jaune Flamme - Not really a cherry but smallish, replacing Stupice as my early slicer after a stellar showing last season Dwarf (all are new to me): New Big Dwarf Lime Green Salad Rosella Purple Sweet Sue Large Fruited: Eva Purple Ball - Top tomato in 2013. Produced gorgeous, delicious fruit like mad (especially at the end of the season) KBX - The potato leaf version is new to me. Loved the flavor of Kellogg's Breakfast last year but it was a struggle to grow from the time it sprouted. Big Beef - New to me Sibirskiy Velikan Rozovyi "Siberian Giant Pink" - New to me

2014 Tomato list
Only have room for about 24 tomato plants and my 2014 seed list goes like this-----
Riesentraube, Rose de Berne, Joe's Pink Oxheart, Nicky Crain, Pink Berkeley Tie Dye, Momotaro, Stump of the World, Indian Stripe, Tangerine, Moon Glow, Orange Strawberry, Brandywine Colick's, & Volovsko Srce Val. 2 plants ea. for most of them. About half are repeats from last year, the rest are new for me this year. Hope zone 6b has a better growing season this year. Looking forward to it for sure ! |

We are going to be in the process of moving so I won't have my traditional garden this year, instead I'll be growing most everything in containers. Probably going to grow 2 or 3 plants of each of these:
Cherokee Purple (a yearly staple) German Johnson (yearly staple) Costoluto Genovese (yearly staple) Omar's Lebanese (1st time) Sungold (1st time) Supersweet 100 (1st time) Black Cherry (1st time) San Marzano (2nd year in a row) Boxcar Willie (1st time) Eva's Purple Ball (1st time) Mortgage Lifter (1st time) Sugar Lump (1st time) Also on the farm I have 3 rows of black plastic laid (extra from our strawberries), each row is about 300 ft, so 900 linear ft in total of growing space. With that I'm planning on trying these to sell at our stand: Purple Bumble Bee (1st time) Sunrise Bumble Bee (1st time) BHN-624 (F1) (1st time) Mountain Glory (2nd year) |

Hi Yak,
You have a few varieties that I have grown or am keen to try. I'm waiting to see what arrives in my seed swap envelope before deciding, but Rose de Berne, Momotaro, Fish Lake Oxheart and BW Cowlicks will probably feature in this summer's garden. Not sure if Riesentraube will be back as there are so many cherries that I want to grow. I'm interested in Tangerine because of it's recent notoriety WRT increased amounts of Lycopene. Did you grow that one last year? Cheers, Linda Quote:

I am waiting for the swap stuff to come in to totally decide. I do have some seeds already planted and coming up. So I am sure I will grow these unless something horrible happens. I have planted other seeds but waiting to see what pops up

Hi Linda
I'm interested in Tangerine & Moon Glow for the same reason you mentioned, and no I did not grow either of these high lycopene varieties last year. Best regards, Dan Last edited by Yak54; January 10, 2014 at 06:10 PM. |

Red slicers: (mostly for my mom) Aurora (Homegrown from a relative) Marmande Nevas (a Finnish creation) Sophie's Choice Stupice Sub-Arctic plenty Greens: Green Sausage Grub's Mystery Green Other: Dances with the Smurfs Still planning what sunny spots I will have for larger hearts and beefsteaks.. not to mention blacks. ***Sweet Ozark Orange New variety being trialed (3 plants)
mentioned above. I will be offering seeds for it in my seed offer, to go up in a day or so, and Sam W, who bred the variety will be making a separate offer in the Trade subforum in the next day or two. Briefly, it's a cross Sam made between German Red Strawberry and Dr, Wyche, which he did several years ago, and I listed it in the Experimental section of my seed offer last year, no nameat that time, and several requested it and grew it and liked it as noted in the Fall feedback thread. It is now stable, as a blunt orange heart, several others have grown it per Sam distributing it elsewhere and I've offered to send seeds for trial to several seed sites where I know the owners well. Seeds to be offered are F5 seeds and Sam says it's now stable. In back of me on the table is a box that has 1000 seeds Sam sent me, but it might be nice if folks got this variety from Sam's seed offer in the Trade subforum rather than mine since it would give folks an extra variety to select from my offer. Hi,
I'm doing my seeds in batches this year in an effort to keep things a bit less confusing than usual. So far, I've just started my "standard size" Blacks and Dark Purples and my Hearts. About 2/3's of the varieties are either new to me or ones I haven't grown for many years. BLACKS Spudatula BKX Margaret Curtain JD's Special-C Tex Amazon Chocolate (PL) Carbon Gary'O Sena Cherokee Purple Dana's Dusky Rose HEARTS Berkeley Tie-Die Heart Wolford's Wonder Work Release Paste Kosovo Anna Russian Fish Lake Oxheart Wes Russian 117 Prue (I know, not totally a heart or paste) Next up will probably be the "standard size" Pinks and Reds....
