Seaweed and Fish

Lots of people have been using Kelp and fish in various forms to provide nutrients and minor elements to their plants. Which products are best and why do you feel that way? Last year I used Neptunes Harvest, the one with some fish ingredients added. Is there anything better or cheaper? I don't live by the ocean so I can't really go get some sea weeds and brew up my own mixture though I have seen that some people are putting a lot of different things in some water in 55 gallon barrels and bubbling oxygen through it to get aerobic organisms etc. to use as foliar feeds and drenches for their plants. Is there any one thing that is simple and works?

The web site only addresses seaweed and not fish products or combined fish seaweed products or why they are of any value. Your web site is interesting and I am certain the product you are selling is great, but how about a little more information?

Hi,

I don't have exprience with fish based fertilizers. I did check, though, and there are a lot of web sites you can find doing a search on google.

I use the seaweed solution, Naturize and Aggrand fertilizer. I belive Aggrand his some Kelp products.

I use Peaceful Valley Farm Supply's Algamin (liquid kelp) and I think that it helps my plants but I have no objective proof and I haven't done any at home comparisons with other brands.

You can find it at http://www.groworganic.com The price is reasonable, and they are fairly local to me so I usually drive there and pick up my order rather than paying for shipping.

Anyway, I can't tell you that this is better than product X, but it's another option for you to look at for yourself.

I've used SeaStart for the last 8 years; it used to have a different name but it escapes me at the moment.

It is also available in a one gallon size...you have to call and ask for it, for some reason.

I remember the first year I used it, my father-in-law was in my garden looking around in awe. He kept telling me that he had never seen tomato plants that were so much taller than he was. He lived with us and enjoyed showing off "his" tomato plants to his friends that would visit.

I miss him very much and grow a tomato plant at his grave every year.
