I had pictures just like that - and I had hornworms AND chipmunks.

Hornworms eat tomatoes? I thought they only ate leaves??

Yes, they eat tomatoes. Mostly they will carve a "trench" about 3/8" wide and a random direction. I've had some very small cherry tomatoes almost totally consumed.
You must kill them. They are evil. They are tainted protoplasm that must be cleansed. Feed them to the wasps and the birds. They are the antithesis of good tomatoes. Sorry, I tend to get off on a rant when good tomatoes are at risk. Hornworms are the tomato grower's ultimate evil. KILL THEM, QUICKLY BEFORE THEY CAN MULTIPLY. Sorry, again, I just get totally agitated. Y'all take care, now, ya heah!!!
