Default eyeing a fish breakfast

Sunday morning this guy was on top of the umbrella next to our fish pond just waiting for breakfast. He swooped down to the pond for one of the fancy goldfish but the water was too deep to snag one. He flew to a nearby tree and eyed the pond for an hour before flying on for a different meal.

Yes, a Barred Owl, but we also have Great Horned Owls in the area and hear them but rarely see them. This Barred is one of the three babies born a couple years ago and hung around most of the summer. With 70 goldfish in the pond I was hoping to see him(or her) grab one and get a shot of that.

There's one of them on my street, probably lives in the greenbelt one door down. I haven't seen him, but I hear him all the time calling in the early morning.
