I like that "tacky and tasteless" look for my plastic pots. I take old white t-shirts, towels and kitchen towels and clamp them to the side of the pots that is sun exposed. I stopped using plastic and went to fabric pots. Bear in mind my location,though. Lower Sonoran desert. I used to shade the plants, wrap the pots and cross my fingers. LOL dmforcier and Worth are correct. Shade the pot and you should see some great results. Oh yeah, mulch too. I've used old white cotton socks for that as well, tacky is as tacky does. LOL
