Bah humbug.

Like a true tomato addict, I'm ordering Bear Creek! Either from Tania or Double Helix.

I've grown carbon and robeson...great flavor, but few tomatoes. Black seaman barely did anything for me. So far I've been really happy with black ethipian and Gary O'sena, but I'm always on the hunt for another great black. I've got some free seeds of black brandywine so maybe I'll try those this year.

But can you only order Bear Creek Sharon? You sure there's not at least one more variety available that you've been wanting to try?

I guess that's the tragedy of tomato growing: several people recommend Carbon and others say it didn't produce for them. I guess it could be so many different things such as climate, soil, fertilizers, etc, etc....

That's another vote for Ethiopian but it will have to wait until '16 for me to try it..

Sharon,

Are you growing 7 black tomatoes this year? I'm trying 5 black tomatoes in addition to my every year Black Krim this year. What other ones did you order?

I'm growing, or think I'm growing Bear Creek, Indian Stripe, Margaret Curtain, possibly CP, Chocolate Lightning, Black From Tula, and something from the Dwarf Project. The rest that I ordered were reds and pinks from Tania, although I already have more than I need. Just covering my bases! Don't know how I'm going to narrow the list.

Al@NC, Sharon, and others,

It seems a lot of us are trying out some new (to us) black tomatoes this year. It will be fun compare notes of the common varieties. In addition to Black Krim, I will be growing Cherokee Purple, Mikado Black, Pink Berkley Tie Dye, Margaret Curtain, and Carbon Copy.

Tomato sowing is still a month and a half away for me, but at least my experiment of starting my peppers very early and topping is taking the edge off!

Agreed jmsieglaff, I'm growing the Bear Creek, Carbon, Paul Robeson, CP, Rosella Purple and a couple of others that I bought.

I got the Paul R. and Carbon from Ginger's free seed offer and I think they may still be available for SASE!

No one mentioned Peirce's pride but I bought it when I bought other seed at Heritage so I'll what it does for me...

Forgot to mention Sweet Scarlet Dwarf, I bought at Heritage also.

I have Perth's Pride but am foregoing it for this year. I was going to order Mikado Black, but decided I had enough blacks for the moment. We should definitely compare notes. I do know that Black from Tula has produced lots of tomatoes and Indian Stripe was pretty good also. Who knows what this year will be like. Right now it's so cold and we have so much snow, it's hard to imagine the garden. I also like CP, wasn't impressed with Black Krim.
