Parthenocarpic veggies - Page 2

Cole, are you sure they're not viable? I know I got seeds from parthenocarpic tomatoes like Cold Set and Siletz and they're perfectly fine... the parthenocarpic fruit (Siletz only) didn't have any seeds, just a few little specky wannabes.

Do you think they crossed with another cucumber variety? Either way, I think it would be an interesting project to grow them out and see what happens with the offspring.

I may try it just for fun anyway, but I don't think it works. I only had one cuke plant in the high tunnel, so there should not have been any cross-pollination.

Parthenocarpic cucumbers are great in the garden since they tend to produce fruits earlier than other varieties, but these cucumbers' seeds will end up looking like the ones shown here --- very flat and small and not viable.

I'm sold on the Golden Glory, and will bring back Safari for a green variety, I'm thinking.

Thanks everyone, I am growing dunja and cavili zucchinis, and diva cucumber. I will report back on these next year, wish me luck!
