Default Mid-West Tomato Fest 2011 results

In the Nebraska area this has been a down year for tomato harvest. We still had plenty of varieties to sample and our small core of yearly participants and a few new faces gathered on a beautiful day and "talked tomato". These were the varieties we were able to grow and sample and discuss (and cuss a little). Of the list there were no real spitters for the first time in many years.

K-2
Sweet Sue (from the dwarf project)
KBX
G.G.'s Yellow Belgian
Druzba
Unnamed Russian (from the SSE Yearbook) aka Nolan Boy's Russian
Emma Pink
No-Name Bulgarian (from SSE Yearbook and C. Male) aka Willow's Bulgarian
Paul's Pink Pride
Siletz
Neves Azorean Red
Mountain Magic
Violet Jasper X Momotaro F-1 (cross by Frog's Leap Farm
Mystery tomato #1
Aunt Lou's Underground Railroad
Neves Azorean XPink Berkeley Tie Dye F-1 (Frog's Leap)
Cherokee Purple
Caspian Pink
Jet Star
Cours De Valours
Russian Bogatyr
Old Brooks
Black Cherry
Box Car Willie
Henderson's Ponderosa Pink
Aunt Ruby's German Green
Aunt Ruby's German Green cherry
Sweet Pea Currant
Green Zebra
Orange Fleshed Purple Smudge
Earl of Edgecomb
Red Zebra
Seek No More Love Apple
Ramapo
Keller Orange
Kosovo
Pineapple

The variety with the most votes for flavor was G.G.'s Yellow Belgian

Runners up were Siletz, the F-1 cross from Frogs Leap Neves Azorean Red X Momotaro and Earl of Edgecomb.

Also receiving votes were Sweet Sue, KBX, No-Name Bulgarian, Cherokee Purple, Cours De Valours, Russian Bogatyr, Black Cherry, Ramapo, Keller Orange, Kosovo and Jet Star.

PaulF: Where could I get seeds for G.G's Yellow Belgian? Or the plant, if seeds are not available? I'd love to try it out for myself.

Hastings: The seeds for G.G.'s came from the SSE member catalogue. I used all the seeds sent to me and I will reoffer and when I save the seeds this year I will send some to you.

That would be great! When they're ready, just let me know what you want me to do!
