Default Too Late

Live in zone 7B (Greensboro, N.C.). Is it too late to start squash, cucumbers, and determinate tomatoes from seeds using a seed starter and seed flats.? Ditto to root wormwood?

Thanks,
tlcmd

Determinate tomatoes: 1 1/2 months indoors, plus 2 1/2 months from plant-out to maturity, so 4-4 1/2 months from now you'd be starting to get tomatoes if all goes well. That would mean tomatoes at the end of October or beginning of November. They'd probably be delayed due to the cold, though. If you do it, I'd use the earliest tomatoes you've got (fewest DTM).

You would be better of to direct seed vs pot this point in the games

I'll be starting some late season squash and cukes here in Texas, plus some melons and corn, too. Hopefully, will fool some of the squash bugs and other pests.

I'm planting cucumber seeds outside direct to final containers today, zone 7B/8A. I get more cukes if I pull up the first round of plants started in the spring before pest and disease becomes a big problem. I get a decent harvest mid-summer as long as the plants stay watered.

Plenty of time to plant and get tomatoes. I will plant my Fall tomatoes around July 4th or a week later. Root some of the suckers and you will save a lot of time.

I had cukes in hanging baskets last year and got 2 crops from them before fall.
