Levant,
So nice to see your subirrigation planters. I plant my vegetables in Earthboxes which are similiar, but use a cover over them to maintain moisture, wick fertilizer to the roots. Your planters look so similar to them. Is there an overflow hole on the bottom ?

I am also interested in what medium your Basil is planted in....you listed it, but could you say a bit about it ?
What type of fertilizer do you use in your planters ?

Many similarities to how I grow here in Maryland...
Welcome also to the forum,
JB

Hi JB,
These subirrigation planters which were made in Poland didn't have any overflow holes on the bottom or sides. They're designed for indoor use.I drilled a hole on a side about 3-4 cm high from the bottom level.
For diatomite there is an active topic in seed starting forum http://tomatoville.com/showthread.ph...342#post291342
I use only ınorganic ferts produced for edibles though this season I started to experiment organic options such as DIY manure tea.

Levent you need to enter that one in the ugliest tomato forum here. That is really weird looking.

It looks from your garden pictures that you make the best use of your space. Really nice, thanks for sharing your garden.

I'm always interested in seeing how gardens are in other places besides the USA.

I have very limited room for edibles in my garden that's why I do intensive gardening.Tomatoes are approx. 40 cm apart on rows.A bit crowded!
Boy in between the plants is 150 cm tall.Hope it helps to recognise the current state of tomatoes.

Cucumbers 'Beith Alpha' are growing steadily in subirrigation planter.Plants have started to set fruits. This variety is parthenocarpic and almost all the flowers set fruit without pollination.Every plant has at least 10 fruits on! Happy me

First harvest of Beith Alpha
Crunchy, juicy and thin skinned, can be eaten without peeling. It seems it's a high yield variety though the taste is ordinary. There are at least 10 cucumbers per plant, not so bad for a 20 cm deep subirrigation planter.
