Default My father has passed away

On Wednesday night my father after a 6 week illness passed from this life to his spiritual life. You had a great run of years 87, 7 more than you ever dreamed you would enjoy. I'm glad you are no longer suffering and that you are now free from that.

To all who have been so kind to share your great tomato seeds, I am so thankful to you and hope you will understand why I've been away and not acknowledging that I've received them.

I'll be home for the weekend and will be getting most if not all of them planted, before I have to head back south next week to continue to look after my step mother until we figure out how to best take care of her.

I want some homegrown maters....LOL

I am so sad for you.

I posted a similar post when my mom passed away 3 years ago and it was deleted by the moderators. I had hoped to find support from all the folks here who I share my love of gardening with so don't be surprised if this disappears.

Just know that this community cares about you and grieves with you.

I want to add my condolences also. I know all too well how awful you probably feel right now because my Mom died recently too. (the end of Dec. she was 92)

You feel much like I did in that the pain and suffering are over for them but is just beginning for us. While it's not easy, don't be afraid to grieve. It's a necessary part of the process of going on. I still find myself thinking "oh I should call Mom and tell her about that" and then have to remember "oh I can't". But it does gradually get easier. The thoughts gradually change to "Mom would have liked that" and you have a fond memory rather than the hurt.

This is not an easy time. Hopefully you have some friends and family that can help with all that goes along with taking care of your step-Mom. I was fortunate that my Sister was a tremendous help and organized most of the clean out of Mom's apartment.

Something else that has helped me is just writing about things like this in a few threads here and on FaceBook. Let it out.

So sorry for your loss. My father isn't doing the best as well, and I feel your loss strongly.

Jan,
I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your father. I know the pain and grief but also relief that goes with losing a parent who has been in failing health. Like Carol said, let it out. Write it down - privately or publically, whichever you choose. Whatever works for you. The good folks here at Tomatoville are here for you, if you need us.

Thanks to all of you. I lost my mom 12 years ago and now that both parents are gone, it is a very strange way of life to no longer have the two folks who know everything about you from the time of your birth to when you left home to enter to big wide world on your own....

Again for those who are having to go through health issues with you parents I am praying for you, that you are given strength.

Again to all the members here who shared their wonderful seeds with me I can't thank you enough. As gardening is a healing form of therapy for me.
