Default Canadian Source For The Stinking Rose - Organic Garlic

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to mention some information on a friends Garlic Farm...

Boundary Garlic specializes in heritage seed garlic which they sell by mail order across Canada. They sell only certified organic seed garlic. Seed garlic is garlic which has been grown with meticulous attention to quality. We have had organic certification since 2004.

Sonia and her husband Henry - began growing garlic on their ranch in 1999. The ranch is in the Boundary area in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. In the beginning they started with several heirloom cultivars. These flourished and now they have about eighty distinct strains of garlic in the ground at the garlic farm.

Their relationship with the garlic is evolving into a conscious partnership. The more they know about garlic the more fascinating they find it.

Their climate and soil conditions are particularly well suited to growing hardneck garlic. They continue to introduce new varieties each year and select those which thrive in our cold winters and moderately hot summers. They now have a good selection of softneck garlics too.

In 2007 they have for sale a good selection of cultivars from each of the three hardneck varieties: Rocambole, Porcelain and Purple Stripe and from the softneck variety Artichoke. Henry and Sonia, should have substantial amounts of the Porcelains: Leningrad, Yugoslavian, Susan Delafield, Fish Lake 3, Georgian Fire, Northern Québec, Dan’s Russian, Ukrainian Mavniv; the Purple Stripes: Brown Tempest, Chesnok Red, Persian Star, Purple Glazer and Metechi; the Rocamboles: Puslinch, Korean Purple, German Red, Dan’s Italian, Baba Franchuk’s and Spanish Roja, and the Artichokes: Sicilian Gold, Thai, Inchelium Red, Japanese, Wildfire and Tibetan. There are also smaller quantities of fifteen other strains, many of them new this year.
Garlic is really easy to grow in the home garden. They have lots of tips for growing their gourmet garlic. If you don’t find the answers to your questions on this website, please feel free to email them for help in producing superlative garlic bulbs that will keep for many months.

Enjoy their information!

Thanks,
Randy
